Consolidated cargo transportation

Consolidated cargo is a service that helps companies and individuals save on shipping costs. It involves collecting shipments from individual clients and forwarding them using a single mode of transport. For convenience, orders can be placed in a single container, such as a shipping container.

Compared to standard delivery, consolidated cargo transportation requires large warehouse spaces and a significant number of staff. Goods must be carefully packed, categorized, and protected from damage caused by contact with each other. Therefore, logistics should only be entrusted to proven logistics companies.

How is cargo consolidation and transportation carried out?

Consolidated cargo transportation consists of several stages:

Goods acceptance.
The carrier collects shipments from different suppliers and brings them to its own warehouse. If the service includes a quality check, staff will open the packages, assess the condition of the goods, and return any substandard items.
Temporary storage.
Orders from different senders may arrive at different times or be delayed. Therefore, consolidated cargo transportation cannot be executed instantly. To avoid losing items, goods are grouped by batch and placed in designated areas.
Cargo consolidation.
Once all shipments have arrived, they are sorted, labeled, and packed. The goods are then loaded into the truck or container in a way that minimizes the risk of damage.
Consolidated transportation.
The consolidated goods are shipped along an approved route to the destination. Delivery typically ends at a major logistics hub capable of providing temporary storage.
Last-mile delivery.
Once the arriving truck is unloaded, the logistics center staff sort the goods by destination and load them into new vehicles. These vehicles deliver the goods to the final recipients.
